1우상의 제물에 대하여는 우리가 다 지식이 있는 줄을 아나 지식은 교만하게 하며 사랑은 덕을 세우나니
BSBNow about food sacrificed to idols: We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.
KJVNow as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth.
영어 직역이제 우상에게 바친 것들에 관해서 말하자면, 우리가 모두 지식을 가지고 있다는 것을 안다. 지식은 부풀리지만, 사랑은 세운다.
2만일 누구든지 무엇을 아는 줄로 생각하면 아직도 마땅히 알 것을 알지 못하는 것이요
BSBThe one who thinks he knows something does not yet know as he ought to know.
KJVAnd if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.

4그러므로 우상의 제물 먹는 일에 대하여는 우리가 우상은 세상에 아무 것도 아니며 또한 하나님은 한 분밖에 없는 줄 아노라
BSBSo about eating food sacrificed to idols: We know that an idol is nothing at all in the world, and that there is no God but one.
KJVAs concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one.
영어 직역그러므로 우상에게 제사로 바친 것들을 먹는 것에 관해서 말하자면, 우리는 우상이 세상에서 아무것도 아닐 것을 알고, 한 분 하나님 외에 다른 신이 없을 것을 안다.
5비록 하늘에나 땅에나 신이라 칭하는 자가 있어 많은 신과 많은 주가 있으나
BSBFor even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as there are many so-called gods and lords),

BSByet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we exist. And there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we exist.
KJVBut to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.

7그러나 이 지식은 사람마다 가지지 못하여 어떤이들은 지금까지 우상에 대한 습관이 있어 우상의 제물로 알고 먹는고로 그들의 양심이 약하여지고 더러워지느니라
BSBBut not everyone has this knowledge. Some people are still so accustomed to idols that they eat such food as if it were sacrificed to an idol. And since their conscience is weak, it is defiled.
KJVHowbeit there is not in every man that knowledge: for some with conscience of the idol unto this hour eat it as a thing offered unto an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled.
영어 직역그러나 모든 사람 속에 그 지식이 있지는 않다: 어떤 사람들은 우상에 대한 양심을 가지고 이 시간까지 그것을 우상에게 바친 것으로서 먹고, 그들의 약한 양심이 더럽혀진다.
8식물은 우리를 하나님 앞에 세우지 못하나니 우리가 먹지 아니하여도 부족함이 없고 먹어도 풍성함이 없으리라
BSBBut food does not bring us closer to God: We are no worse if we do not eat, and no better if we do.
KJVBut meat commendeth us not to God: for neither, if we eat, are we the better; neither, if we eat not, are we the worse.
영어 직역그러나 음식이 우리를 하나님께 추천하지 못한다: 우리가 먹어도 더 나은 것이 아니고, 먹지 않아도 더 못한 것도 아니다.
9그런즉 너희 자유함이 약한 자들에게 거치는 것이 되지 않도록 조심하라
BSBBe careful, however, that your freedom does not become a stumbling block to the weak.
KJVBut take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak.
영어 직역그러나 삼가라 어떻게 되든 너희의 이 자유가 약한 자들에게 넘어짐돌이 되지 않도록.
10지식 있는 네가 우상의 집에 앉아 먹는 것을 누구든지 보면 그 약한 자들의 양심이 담력을 얻어 어찌 우상의 제물을 먹게 되지 않겠느냐
BSBFor if someone with a weak conscience sees you who are well informed eating in an idol’s temple, will he not be encouraged to eat food sacrificed to idols?
KJVFor if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol’s temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols;
영어 직역너는 지식을 가지고 우상 신전에서 앉아 음식 먹는 것을 어떤 사람이 보면, 약한 그 사람의 양심이 담대하게 되지 않겠는가, 우상에게 바친 것들을 먹도록.
11그러면 네 지식으로 그 약한 자가 멸망하나니 그는 그리스도께서 위하여 죽으신 형제라
BSBSo this weak brother, for whom Christ died, is destroyed by your knowledge.
KJVAnd through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?
영어 직역그리고 너의 지식으로 말미암아 약한 형제가 멸망하지 않겠는가, 그 사람은 그리스도가 죽으신 자인데.
12이같이 너희가 형제에게 죄를 지어 그 약한 양심을 상하게 하는 것이 곧 그리스도에게 죄를 짓는 것이니라
BSBBy sinning against your brothers in this way and wounding their weak conscience, you sin against Christ.
KJVBut when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.
영어 직역그러나 이렇게 형제들을 거슬러 죄를 짓고 그들의 약한 양심을 상하게 할 때에, 너희는 그리스도를 거슬러 죄를 짓는 것이다.
13그러므로 만일 식물이 내 형제로 실족케 하면 나는 영원히 고기를 먹지 아니하여 내 형제를 실족치 않게 하리라
BSBTherefore, if what I eat causes my brother to stumble, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause him to stumble.
KJVWherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend.
