1길르앗에 우거하는 자 중에 디셉 사람 엘리야가 아합에게 고하되 나의 섬기는 이스라엘 하나님 여호와의 사심을 가리켜 맹세하노니 내 말이 없으면 수 년 동안 우로가 있지 아니하리라 하니라
BSBNow Elijah the Tishbite, who was among the settlers of Gilead, said to Ahab, “As surely as the LORD lives—the God of Israel before whom I stand—there will be neither dew nor rain in these years except at my word!”
KJVAnd Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the Lord God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.

2여호와의 말씀이 엘리야에게 임하여 가라사대

BSB“Leave here, turn eastward, and hide yourself by the Brook of Cherith, east of the Jordan.
KJVGet thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.

4그 시냇물을 마시라 내가 까마귀들을 명하여 거기서 너를 먹이게 하리라
BSBAnd you are to drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.”
KJVAnd it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.

BSBSo Elijah did what the LORD had told him, and he went and lived by the Brook of Cherith, east of the Jordan.
KJVSo he went and did according unto the word of the Lord: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.

6까마귀들이 아침에도 떡과 고기를, 저녁에도 떡과 고기를 가져왔고 저가 시내를 마셨더니
BSBThe ravens would bring him bread and meat in the morning and evening, and he would drink from the brook.
KJVAnd the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook.

BSBSome time later, however, the brook dried up because there had been no rain in the land.

8여호와의 말씀이 엘리야에게 임하여 가라사대

9너는 일어나 시돈에 속한 사르밧으로 가서 거기 유하라 내가 그곳 과부에게 명하여 너를 공궤하게 하였느니라
BSB“Get up and go to Zarephath of Sidon, and stay there. Behold, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you.”
KJVArise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.
영어 직역일어나서 시돈에 속한 사르밧으로 가서 거기서 거하라. 보라, 내가 그곳의 한 과부 여자에게 명하여 너를 돌보게 하였노라.
10저가 일어나 사르밧으로 가서 성문에 이를 때에 한 과부가 그곳에서 나무가지를 줍는지라 이에 불러 가로되 청컨대 그릇에 물을 조금 가져다가 나로 마시게 하라
BSBSo Elijah got up and went to Zarephath. When he arrived at the city gate, there was a widow gathering sticks. Elijah called to her and said, “Please bring me a little water in a cup, so that I may drink.”
KJVSo he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.

BSBAnd as she was going to get it, he called to her and said, “Please bring me a piece of bread.”
KJVAnd as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand.

12저가 가로되 당신의 하나님 여호와의 사심을 가리켜 맹세하노니 나는 떡이 없고 다만 통에 가루 한 움큼과 병에 기름 조금뿐이라 내가 나무가지 두엇을 주워다가 나와 내 아들을 위하여 음식을 만들어 먹고 그 후에는 죽으리라
BSBBut she replied, “As surely as the LORD your God lives, I have no bread—only a handful of flour in a jar and a little oil in a jug. Look, I am gathering a couple of sticks to take home and prepare a meal for myself and my son, so that we may eat it and die.”
KJVAnd she said, As the Lord thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.

BSB“Do not be afraid,” Elijah said to her. “Go and do as you have said. But first make me a small cake of bread from what you have, and bring it out to me. Afterward, make some for yourself and your son,
KJVAnd Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.

BSBfor this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: ‘The jar of flour will not be exhausted and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the LORD sends rain upon the face of the earth.’”
KJVFor thus saith the Lord God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the Lord sendeth rain upon the earth.

BSBSo she went and did according to the word of Elijah, and there was food every day for Elijah and the woman and her household.
KJVAnd she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days.

BSBThe jar of flour was not exhausted and the jug of oil did not run dry, according to the word that the LORD had spoken through Elijah.
KJVAnd the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the Lord, which he spake by Elijah.

BSBLater, the son of the woman who owned the house became ill, and his sickness grew worse and worse, until no breath remained in him.
KJVAnd it came to pass after these things, that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick; and his sickness was so sore, that there was no breath left in him.

18여인이 엘리야에게 이르되 하나님의 사람이여 당신이 나로 더불어 무슨 상관이 있기로 내 죄를 생각나게 하고 또 내 아들을 죽게 하려고 내게 오셨나이까
BSB“O man of God,” said the woman to Elijah, “what have you done to me? Have you come to remind me of my iniquity and cause the death of my son?”
KJVAnd she said unto Elijah, What have I to do with thee, O thou man of God? art thou come unto me to call my sin to remembrance, and to slay my son?

19엘리야가 저에게 그 아들을 달라 하여 그를 그 여인의 품에서 취하여 안고 자기의 거처하는 다락에 올라가서 자기 침상에 누이고
BSBBut Elijah said to her, “Give me your son.” So he took him from her arms, carried him to the upper room where he was staying, and laid him on his own bed.
KJVAnd he said unto her, Give me thy son. And he took him out of her bosom, and carried him up into a loft, where he abode, and laid him upon his own bed.
영어 직역그가 그 여자에게 말하되, 네 아들을 내게 내라. 그리고 그는 그를 그 여자의 품에서 가져다가 자신이 거하는 다락방으로 들어가서 그를 자기의 침대 위에 놓았더라.
20여호와께 부르짖어 가로되 나의 하나님 여호와여 주께서 또 내가 우거하는 집 과부에게 재앙을 내리사 그 아들로 죽게 하셨나이까 하고
BSBThen he cried out to the LORD, “O LORD my God, have You also brought tragedy on this widow who has opened her home to me, by causing her son to die?”
KJVAnd he cried unto the Lord, and said, O Lord my God, hast thou also brought evil upon the widow with whom I sojourn, by slaying her son?

21그 아이 위에 몸을 세 번 펴서 엎드리고 여호와께 부르짖어 가로되 나의 하나님 여호와여 원컨대 이 아이의 혼으로 그 몸에 돌아오게 하옵소서 하니
BSBThen he stretched himself out over the child three times and cried out to the LORD, “O LORD my God, please let this boy’s life return to him!”
KJVAnd he stretched himself upon the child three times, and cried unto the Lord, and said, O Lord my God, I pray thee, let this child’s soul come into him again.

22여호와께서 엘리야의 소리를 들으시므로 그 아이의 혼이 몸으로 돌아오고 살아난지라
BSBAnd the LORD listened to the voice of Elijah, and the child’s life returned to him, and he lived.
KJVAnd the Lord heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived.

BSBThen Elijah took the child, brought him down from the upper room into the house, and gave him to his mother. “Look, your son is alive,” Elijah declared.
KJVAnd Elijah took the child, and brought him down out of the chamber into the house, and delivered him unto his mother: and Elijah said, See, thy son liveth.

BSBThen the woman said to Elijah, “Now I know that you are a man of God and that the word of the LORD from your mouth is truth.”
KJVAnd the woman said to Elijah, Now by this I know that thou art a man of God, and that the word of the Lord in thy mouth is truth.
