1너희를 대하여 대면하면 겸비하고 떠나 있으면 담대한 나 바울은 이제 그리스도의 온유와 관용으로 친히 너희를 권하고
BSBNow by the mildness and gentleness of Christ, I appeal to you—I, Paul, who am humble when face to face with you, but bold when away.
KJVNow I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent am bold toward you:

2또한 우리를 육체대로 행하는 자로 여기는 자들을 대하여 내가 담대히 대하려는 것 같이 너희와 함께 있을 때에 나로 하여금 이 담대한 태도로 대하지 않게 하기를 구하노라
BSBI beg you that when I come I may not need to be as bold as I expect toward those who presume that we live according to the flesh.
KJVBut I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present with that confidence, wherewith I think to be bold against some, which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh.

BSBWe tear down arguments and every presumption set up against the knowledge of God; and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
KJVCasting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

BSBYou are looking at outward appearances. If anyone is confident that he belongs to Christ, he should remind himself that we belong to Christ just as much as he does.
KJVDo ye look on things after the outward appearance? If any man trust to himself that he is Christ’s, let him of himself think this again, that, as he is Christ’s, even so are we Christ’s.

KJVFor though I should boast somewhat more of our authority, which the Lord hath given us for edification, and not for your destruction, I should not be ashamed:

BSBFor some say, “His letters are weighty and forceful, but his physical presence is unimpressive, and his speaking is of no account.”
KJVFor his letters, say they, are weighty and powerful; but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech contemptible.

11이런 사람은 우리가 떠나 있을 때에 편지들로 말하는 자가 어떠한 자이면 함께 있을 때에 행하는 자도 그와 같은 자인 줄 알라
BSBSuch people should consider that what we are in our letters when absent, we will be in our actions when present.
KJVLet such an one think this, that, such as we are in word by letters when we are absent, such will we be also in deed when we are present.

BSBWe do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they show their ignorance.
KJVFor we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.

BSBWe, however, will not boast beyond our limits, but only within the field of influence that God has assigned to us—a field that reaches even to you.
KJVBut we will not boast of things without our measure, but according to the measure of the rule which God hath distributed to us, a measure to reach even unto you.

BSBWe are not overstepping our bounds, as if we had not come to you. Indeed, we were the first to reach you with the gospel of Christ.
KJVFor we stretch not ourselves beyond our measure, as though we reached not unto you: for we are come as far as to you also in preaching the gospel of Christ:

KJVNot boasting of things without our measure, that is, of other men’s labours; but having hope, when your faith is increased, that we shall be enlarged by you according to our rule abundantly,

BSBso that we can preach the gospel in the regions beyond you. Then we will not be boasting in the work already done in another man’s territory.
KJVTo preach the gospel in the regions beyond you, and not to boast in another man’s line of things made ready to our hand.

17자랑하는 자는 주 안에서 자랑할지니라
BSBRather, “Let him who boasts boast in the Lord.”
KJVBut he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

KJVFor not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth.
