1왕이 보내어 유다와 예루살렘의 모든 장로를 자기에게로 모으고
BSBThen the king summoned all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem.
KJVAnd the king sent, and they gathered unto him all the elders of Judah and of Jerusalem.

2이에 여호와의 전에 올라가매 유다 모든 사람과 예루살렘 거민과 제사장들과 선지자들과 모든 백성이 무론 노소하고 다 왕과 함께한지라 왕이 여호와의 전 안에서 발견한 언약책의 모든 말씀을 읽어 무리의 귀에 들리고
BSBAnd he went up to the house of the LORD with all the people of Judah and Jerusalem, as well as the priests and the prophets—all the people small and great—and in their hearing he read all the words of the Book of the Covenant that had been found in the house of the LORD.
KJVAnd the king went up into the house of the Lord, and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the people, both small and great: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant which was found in the house of the Lord.

BSBSo the king stood by the pillar and made a covenant before the LORD to follow the LORD and to keep His commandments, decrees, and statutes with all his heart and all his soul, and to carry out the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people entered into the covenant.
KJVAnd the king stood by a pillar, and made a covenant before the Lord, to walk after the Lord, and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes with all their heart and all their soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. BSBThen the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, the priests second in rank, and the doorkeepers to remove from the temple of the LORD all the articles made for Baal, Asherah, and all the host of heaven. And he burned them outside Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron and carried their ashes to Bethel.
KJVAnd the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, and the priests of the second order, and the keepers of the door, to bring forth out of the temple of the Lord all the vessels that were made for Baal, and for the grove, and for all the host of heaven: and he burned them without Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron, and carried the ashes of them unto Beth–el.

BSBJosiah also did away with the idolatrous priests ordained by the kings of Judah to burn incense on the high places of the cities of Judah and in the places all around Jerusalem—those who had burned incense to Baal, to the sun and moon, to the constellations, and to all the host of heaven.
KJVAnd he put down the idolatrous priests, whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense in the high places in the cities of Judah, and in the places round about Jerusalem; them also that burned incense unto Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the planets, and to all the host of heaven.

BSBHe brought the Asherah pole from the house of the LORD to the Kidron Valley outside Jerusalem, and there he burned it, ground it to powder, and threw its dust on the graves of the common people.
KJVAnd he brought out the grove from the house of the Lord, without Jerusalem, unto the brook Kidron, and burned it at the brook Kidron, and stamped it small to powder, and cast the powder thereof upon the graves of the children of the people.

KJVAnd he brake down the houses of the sodomites, that were by the house of the Lord, where the women wove hangings for the grove.
영어 직역그리고 그가 주의 집 곁에 있던 남색하는 자들의 집들을 헐어 버렸다. 거기서 여자들이 아세라를 위한 휘장을 짜던 곳이었다.
8또 유다 각 성읍에서 모든 제사장을 불러오고 또 제사장이 분향하던 산당을 게바에서부터 브엘세바까지 더럽게 하고 또 성문의 산당들을 헐어버렸으니 이 산당들은 부윤 여호수아의 대문 어귀 곧 성문 왼편에 있었더라
BSBThen Josiah brought all the priests from the cities of Judah and desecrated the high places, from Geba to Beersheba, where the priests had burned incense. He tore down the high places of the gates at the entrance of the gate of Joshua the governor of the city, which was to the left of the city gate.
KJVAnd he brought all the priests out of the cities of Judah, and defiled the high places where the priests had burned incense, from Geba to Beer–sheba, and brake down the high places of the gates that were in the entering in of the gate of Joshua the governor of the city, which were on a man’s left hand at the gate of the city.

BSBAlthough the priests of the high places did not come up to the altar of the LORD in Jerusalem, they ate unleavened bread with their fellow priests.
KJVNevertheless the priests of the high places came not up to the altar of the Lord in Jerusalem, but they did eat of the unleavened bread among their brethren.

BSBHe also desecrated Topheth in the Valley of Ben-hinnom so that no one could sacrifice his son or daughter in the fire to Molech.
KJVAnd he defiled Topheth, which is in the valley of the children of Hinnom, that no man might make his son or his daughter to pass through the fire to Molech.

BSBAnd he removed from the entrance to the house of the LORD the horses that the kings of Judah had dedicated to the sun. They were in the court near the chamber of an official named Nathan-melech. And Josiah burned up the chariots of the sun.
KJVAnd he took away the horses that the kings of Judah had given to the sun, at the entering in of the house of the Lord, by the chamber of Nathan–melech the chamberlain, which was in the suburbs, and burned the chariots of the sun with fire.

BSBHe pulled down the altars that the kings of Judah had set up on the roof near the upper chamber of Ahaz, and the altars that Manasseh had set up in the two courtyards of the house of the LORD. The king pulverized them there and threw their dust into the Kidron Valley.
KJVAnd the altars that were on the top of the upper chamber of Ahaz, which the kings of Judah had made, and the altars which Manasseh had made in the two courts of the house of the Lord, did the king beat down, and brake them down from thence, and cast the dust of them into the brook Kidron.

BSBThe king also desecrated the high places east of Jerusalem, to the south of the Mount of Corruption, which King Solomon of Israel had built for Ashtoreth the abomination of the Sidonians, for Chemosh the abomination of the Moabites, and for Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.
KJVAnd the high places that were before Jerusalem, which were on the right hand of the mount of corruption, which Solomon the king of Israel had builded for Ashtoreth the abomination of the Zidonians, and for Chemosh the abomination of the Moabites, and for Milcom the abomination of the children of Ammon, did the king defile.

BSBHe smashed the sacred pillars to pieces, cut down the Asherah poles, and covered the sites with human bones.
KJVAnd he brake in pieces the images, and cut down the groves, and filled their places with the bones of men.

15이스라엘로 범죄케 한 느밧의 아들 여로보암이 벧엘에 세운 단과 산당을 왕이 헐고 또 그 산당을 불사르고 빻아서 가루를 만들며 또 아세라 목상을 불살랐더라
BSBHe even pulled down the altar at Bethel, the high place set up by Jeroboam son of Nebat, who had caused Israel to sin. Then he burned the high place, ground it to powder, and burned the Asherah pole.
KJVMoreover the altar that was at Beth–el, and the high place which Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, had made, both that altar and the high place he brake down, and burned the high place, and stamped it small to powder, and burned the grove.

BSBAnd as Josiah turned, he saw the tombs there on the hillside, and he sent someone to take the bones out of the tombs, and he burned them on the altar to defile it, according to the word of the LORD proclaimed by the man of God who had foretold these things.
KJVAnd as Josiah turned himself, he spied the sepulchres that were there in the mount, and sent, and took the bones out of the sepulchres, and burned them upon the altar, and polluted it, according to the word of the Lord which the man of God proclaimed, who proclaimed these words.

17요시야가 이르되 내게 보이는 저것은 무슨 비석이냐 성읍 사람들이 고하되 왕께서 벧엘의 단에 향하여 행하신 이 일을 전하러 유다에서 왔던 하나님의 사람의 묘실이니이다
BSBThen the king asked, “What is this monument I see?” And the men of the city replied, “It is the tomb of the man of God who came from Judah and pronounced these things that you have done to the altar of Bethel.”
KJVThen he said, What title is that that I see? And the men of the city told him, It is the sepulchre of the man of God, which came from Judah, and proclaimed these things that thou hast done against the altar of Beth–el.
영어 직역그때에 그가 말하기를, 내가 보는 그 기념비는 무엇인가? 하고, 그 성의 사람들이 그에게 말하기를, 그것은 유다에서 온 하나님의 사람의 무덤이며, 벧엘의 제단에 대해 그대가 행한 이 일들을 전포했던 자입니다, 라고 하였다.

BSB“Let him rest,” said Josiah. “Do not let anyone disturb his bones.” So they left his bones undisturbed, along with those of the prophet who had come from Samaria.
KJVAnd he said, Let him alone; let no man move his bones. So they let his bones alone, with the bones of the prophet that came out of Samaria.

BSBJust as Josiah had done at Bethel, so also in the cities of Samaria he removed all the shrines of the high places set up by the kings of Israel who had provoked the LORD to anger.
KJVAnd all the houses also of the high places that were in the cities of Samaria, which the kings of Israel had made to provoke the Lord to anger, Josiah took away, and did to them according to all the acts that he had done in Beth–el.

BSBOn the altars he slaughtered all the priests of the high places, and he burned human bones on them. Then he returned to Jerusalem.
KJVAnd he slew all the priests of the high places that were there upon the altars, and burned men’s bones upon them, and returned to Jerusalem.

21왕이 뭇백성에게 명하여 가로되 이 언약책에 기록된 대로 너희의 하나님 여호와를 위하여 유월절을 지키라 하매
BSBThe king commanded all the people, “Keep the Passover of the LORD your God, as it is written in this Book of the Covenant.”
KJVAnd the king commanded all the people, saying, Keep the passover unto the Lord your God, as it is written in the book of this covenant.

22사사가 이스라엘을 다스리던 시대부터 이스라엘 열왕의 시대에든지 유다 열왕의 시대에든지 이렇게 유월절을 지킨 일이 없었더니
BSBNo such Passover had been observed from the days of the judges who had governed Israel through all the days of the kings of Israel and Judah.
KJVSurely there was not holden such a passover from the days of the judges that judged Israel, nor in all the days of the kings of Israel, nor of the kings of Judah;

23요시야 왕 십팔 년에 예루살렘에서 여호와 앞에 이 유월절을 지켰더라
BSBBut in the eighteenth year of Josiah’s reign, this Passover was observed to the LORD in Jerusalem.
KJVBut in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, wherein this passover was holden to the Lord in Jerusalem.

BSBFurthermore, Josiah removed the mediums and spiritists, the household gods and idols, and all the abominations that were seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem. He did this to carry out the words of the law written in the book that Hilkiah the priest had found in the house of the LORD.
KJVMoreover the workers with familiar spirits, and the wizards, and the images, and the idols, and all the abominations that were spied in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, did Josiah put away, that he might perform the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of the Lord.

BSBNeither before nor after Josiah was there any king like him, who turned to the LORD with all his heart and with all his soul and with all his strength, according to all the Law of Moses.
KJVAnd like unto him was there no king before him, that turned to the Lord with all his heart, and with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses; neither after him arose there any like him.
영어 직역그리고 그와 같이 그 전에 주께로 온 왕이 없었으니, 그가 모든 마음으로, 모든 혼으로, 모든 힘으로 주께로 돌아섰으며, 모세의 모든 율법을 따랐다. 그리고 그 후에도 그와 같은 자가 일어나지 아니하였다.

BSBNevertheless, the LORD did not turn away from the fury of His burning anger, which was kindled against Judah because of all that Manasseh had done to provoke Him to anger.
KJVNotwithstanding the Lord turned not from the fierceness of his great wrath, wherewith his anger was kindled against Judah, because of all the provocations that Manasseh had provoked him withal.

BSBFor the LORD had said, “I will remove Judah from My sight, just as I removed Israel. I will reject this city Jerusalem, which I chose, and the temple of which I said, ‘My Name shall be there.’”
KJVAnd the Lord said, I will remove Judah also out of my sight, as I have removed Israel, and will cast off this city Jerusalem which I have chosen, and the house of which I said, My name shall be there.

29요시야 당시에 애굽 왕 바로느고가 앗수르 왕을 치고자하여 유브라데 하수로 올라가므로 요시야 왕이 나가서 방비하더니 애굽 왕이 요시야를 므깃도에서 만나본 후에 죽인지라
BSBAt the end of Josiah’s reign, Pharaoh Neco king of Egypt marched up to help the king of Assyria at the Euphrates River. King Josiah went out to confront him, but Neco faced him and killed him at Megiddo.
KJVIn his days Pharaoh–nechoh king of Egypt went up against the king of Assyria to the river Euphrates: and king Josiah went against him; and he slew him at Megiddo, when he had seen him.
