1선지자들 곧 선지자 학개와 잇도의 손자 스가랴가 이스라엘 하나님의 이름을 받들어 유다와 예루살렘에 거하는 유다 사람들에게 예언하였더니
BSBLater, the prophets Haggai and Zechariah son of Iddo prophesied to the Jews in Judah and Jerusalem in the name of the God of Israel, who was over them.
KJVThen the prophets, Haggai the prophet, and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophesied unto the Jews that were in Judah and Jerusalem in the name of the God of Israel, even unto them.
영어 직역그때에 선지자 학개와 이못의 아들 스가랴가 유다와 예루살렘에 있는 유대인들을 향해 이스라엘의 하나님의 이름으로 선지를 말했으니, 곧 그들을 향함이었다.
2이에 스알디엘의 아들 스룹바벨과 요사닥의 아들 예수아가 일어나 예루살렘 하나님의 전 건축하기를 시작하매 하나님의 선지자들이 함께 하여 돕더니
BSBThen Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and Jeshua son of Jozadak rose up and began to rebuild the house of God in Jerusalem. And the prophets of God were with them, helping them.
KJVThen rose up Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and began to build the house of God which is at Jerusalem: and with them were the prophets of God helping them.
영어 직역그때에 살디엘의 아들 스룹바벨과 요사닥의 아들 예수아가 일어나 예루살렘에 있는 하나님의 집을 건축하기를 시작했으니, 하나님의 선지자들이 그들과 함께 도왔다.
3그 때에 강 서편 총독 닷드내와 스달보스내와 그 동료가 다 나아와 저희에게 이르되 누가 너희를 명하여 이 전을 건축하고 이 성곽을 마치게 하였느냐 하기로
BSBAt that time Tattenai the governor of the region west of the Euphrates, Shethar-bozenai, and their associates went to the Jews and asked, “Who authorized you to rebuild this temple and restore this structure?”
KJVAt the same time came to them Tatnai, governor on this side the river, and Shethar–boznai, and their companions, and said thus unto them, Who hath commanded you to build this house, and to make up this wall?
영어 직역그와 같은 때에 강 이쪽의 총독 닷나이와 셋발보즈내와 그들의 동료들이 그들에게 와서 이렇게 말했다. 누가 너희에게 이 집을 건축하고 이 담을 세우라고 명령했는가?
4우리가 이 건축하는 자의 이름을 고하였으나
BSBThey also asked, “What are the names of the men who are constructing this building?”
KJVThen said we unto them after this manner, What are the names of the men that make this building?

5하나님이 유다 장로들을 돌아보셨으므로 저희가 능히 역사를 폐하게 못하고 이 일을 다리오에게 고하고 그 답조가 오기를 기다렸더라
BSBBut the eye of their God was on the elders of the Jews, so that they were not stopped until a report was sent to Darius and written instructions about this matter were returned.
KJVBut the eye of their God was upon the elders of the Jews, that they could not cause them to cease, till the matter came to Darius: and then they returned answer by letter concerning this matter.
영어 직역그러나 그들의 하나님의 눈이 유대인의 장로들 위에 있었으므로, 그들이 그들을 그치게 할 수 없었으니, 그 일이 다리오에게 이를 때까지였다. 그리고 나서 그들이 이 일에 관하여 편지로 대답을 돌려보냈다.

BSBThis is the text of the letter that Tattenai the governor of the region west of the Euphrates, Shethar-bozenai, and their associates, the officials in the region, sent to King Darius.
KJVThe copy of the letter that Tatnai, governor on this side the river, and Shethar–boznai, and his companions the Apharsachites, which were on this side the river, sent unto Darius the king:
영어 직역강 이쪽의 총독 닷나이와 셋발보즈내와 강 이쪽에 있는 그의 동료들 아바삭 사람들이 왕 다리오에게 보낸 편지의 사본이라.
7그 글에 일렀으되 다리오 왕은 만안하옵소서
BSBThe report they sent him read as follows: To King Darius: All peace.
KJVThey sent a letter unto him, wherein was written thus; Unto Darius the king, all peace.
영어 직역그들이 그에게 편지를 보냈으니, 그것에 이렇게 기록되었다. 왕 다리오에게, 모든 평강을 빈다.
8왕께 아시게 하나이다 우리가 유다 도에 가서 지극히 크신 하나님의 전에 나아가 보온즉 전을 큰 돌로 세우며 벽에 나무를 얹고 부지런히 하므로 역사가 그 손에서 형통하옵기로
BSBLet it be known to the king that we went into the province of Judah, to the house of the great God. The people are rebuilding it with large stones, and placing timbers in the walls. This work is being carried out diligently and is prospering in their hands.
KJVBe it known unto the king, that we went into the province of Judea, to the house of the great God, which is builded with great stones, and timber is laid in the walls, and this work goeth fast on, and prospereth in their hands.
영어 직역왕에게 알려지기를 원하노니, 우리가 유대 지방으로 들어가서 큰 하나님의 집을 보니, 큰 돌로 지어지고 목재가 담에 놓여 있으며, 이 공사가 빠르게 진행되고 그들의 손에서 형통하고 있다.
9우리가 그 장로들에게 물어보기를 누가 너희를 명하여 이 전을 건축하고 이 성곽을 마치게 하였느냐 하고
BSBSo we questioned the elders and asked, “Who authorized you to rebuild this temple and restore this structure?”
KJVThen asked we those elders, and said unto them thus, Who commanded you to build this house, and to make up these walls?
영어 직역그때에 우리가 그 장로들을 묻고 그들에게 이렇게 말했다. 누가 너희에게 이 집을 건축하고 이 담들을 세우라고 명령했는가?
10우리가 또 그 두목의 이름을 적어 왕에게 고하고자 하여 그 이름을 물은즉
BSBWe also asked for their names, so that we could write down the names of their leaders for your information.
KJVWe asked their names also, to certify thee, that we might write the names of the men that were the chief of them.
영어 직역또한 우리가 그들의 이름들을 물었으니, 네게 알려 주기 위함이었으니, 그 중의 으뜸인 사람들의 이름을 우리가 기록하게 하려 함이었다.
11저희가 우리에게 대답하여 이르기를 우리는 천지의 하나님의 종이라 오랜 옛적에 건축되었던 전을 우리가 다시 건축하노라 이는 본래 이스라엘의 큰 왕이 완전히 건축한 것이더니
BSBAnd this is the answer they returned: “We are servants of the God of heaven and earth, and we are rebuilding the temple that was built many years ago, which a great king of Israel built and completed.
KJVAnd thus they returned us answer, saying, We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth, and build the house that was builded these many years ago, which a great king of Israel builded and set up.
영어 직역그리고 그들이 우리에게 이렇게 대답하여 말했다. 우리는 하늘과 땅의 하나님의 종들이며, 여러 해 전에 건축되었던 집을 건축하는데, 곧 이스라엘의 큰 왕이 건축하고 세웠던 집이다.
12우리 열조가 하늘에 계신 하나님을 격노케 하였으므로 하나님이 저희를 갈대아 사람 바벨론 왕 느부갓네살의 손에 붙이시매 저가 이 전을 헐며 이 백성을 사로잡아 바벨론으로 옮겼더니
BSBBut since our fathers angered the God of heaven, He delivered them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, the Chaldean who destroyed this temple and carried away the people to Babylon.
KJVBut after that our fathers had provoked the God of heaven unto wrath, he gave them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, the Chaldean, who destroyed this house, and carried the people away into Babylon.

BSBIn his first year, however, Cyrus king of Babylon issued a decree to rebuild this house of God.
KJVBut in the first year of Cyrus the king of Babylon the same king Cyrus made a decree to build this house of God.
영어 직역그러나 바벨론의 왕 고레스의 첫째 해에 그 왕 고레스가 이 하나님의 집을 건축하라는 령을 내렸다.
14또 느부갓네살의 예루살렘 하나님의 전 속에서 금, 은 기명을 옮겨다가 바벨론 신당에 두었던 것을 고레스 왕이 그 신당에서 취하여 그 세운 총독 세스바살이라 이름한 자에게 내어주고
BSBHe also removed from the temple of Babylon the gold and silver articles belonging to the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar had taken and carried there from the temple in Jerusalem. King Cyrus gave these articles to a man named Sheshbazzar, whom he appointed governor
KJVAnd the vessels also of gold and silver of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar took out of the temple that was in Jerusalem, and brought them into the temple of Babylon, those did Cyrus the king take out of the temple of Babylon, and they were delivered unto one, whose name was Sheshbazzar, whom he had made governor;

BSBand instructed, ‘Take these articles, put them in the temple in Jerusalem, and let the house of God be rebuilt on its original site.’
KJVAnd said unto him, Take these vessels, go, carry them into the temple that is in Jerusalem, and let the house of God be builded in his place.
영어 직역그리고 그에게 말했다. 이 그릇들을 가지고 가서 예루살렘의 전으로 옮겨 가고, 하나님의 집이 그 자리에서 건축되게 하라.
16이에 이 세스바살이 이르러 예루살렘 하나님의 전 지대를 놓았고 그 때로부터 지금까지 건축하여 오나 오히려 필역하지 못하였다 하였사오니
BSBSo this Sheshbazzar came and laid the foundation of the house of God in Jerusalem, and from that time until now it has been under construction, but it has not yet been completed.”
KJVThen came the same Sheshbazzar, and laid the foundation of the house of God which is in Jerusalem: and since that time even until now hath it been in building, and yet it is not finished.
영어 직역그때에 같은 셰스박살이 와서 예루살렘에 있는 하나님의 집의 초석을 놓았으니, 그 때 이후로 지금까지 그것이 건축 중에 있으나, 아직도 마쳐지지 않았다.
17이제 왕이 선히 여기시거든 바벨론에서 왕의 국고에 조사하사 과연 고레스 왕이 조서를 내려 하나님의 이 전을 예루살렘에 건축하라 하셨는지 보시고 왕은 이 일에 대하여 왕의 기쁘신 뜻을 우리에게 보이소서 하였더라
BSBNow, therefore, if it pleases the king, let a search be made of the royal archives in Babylon to see if King Cyrus did indeed issue a decree to rebuild the house of God in Jerusalem. Then let the king send us his decision in this matter.
KJVNow therefore, if it seem good to the king, let there be search made in the king’s treasure house, which is there at Babylon, whether it be so, that a decree was made of Cyrus the king to build this house of God at Jerusalem, and let the king send his pleasure to us concerning this matter.
