1아브람의 아내 사래는 생산치 못하였고 그에게 한 여종이 있으니 애굽 사람이요 이름은 하갈이라

2사래가 아브람에게 이르되 여호와께서 나의 생산을 허락지 아니하셨으니 원컨대 나의 여종과 동침하라 내가 혹 그로 말미암아 자녀를 얻을까 하노라 하매 아브람이 사래의 말을 들으니라
BSBSo Sarai said to Abram, “Look now, the LORD has prevented me from bearing children. Please go to my maidservant; perhaps I can build a family by her.” And Abram listened to the voice of Sarai.
KJVAnd Sarai said unto Abram, Behold now, the Lord hath restrained me from bearing: I pray thee, go in unto my maid; it may be that I may obtain children by her. And Abram hearkened to the voice of Sarai.

BSBThen Sarai said to Abram, “May the wrong done to me be upon you! I delivered my servant into your arms, and ever since she saw that she was pregnant, she has treated me with contempt. May the LORD judge between you and me.”
KJVAnd Sarai said unto Abram, My wrong be upon thee: I have given my maid into thy bosom; and when she saw that she had conceived, I was despised in her eyes: the Lord judge between me and thee.

BSB“Here,” said Abram, “your servant is in your hands. Do whatever you want with her.” Then Sarai treated Hagar so harshly that she fled from her.
KJVBut Abram said unto Sarai, Behold, thy maid is in thy hand; do to her as it pleaseth thee. And when Sarai dealt hardly with her, she fled from her face.

BSB“Hagar, servant of Sarai,” he said, “where have you come from, and where are you going?” “I am running away from my mistress Sarai,” she replied.
KJVAnd he said, Hagar, Sarai’s maid, whence camest thou? and whither wilt thou go? And she said, I flee from the face of my mistress Sarai.

BSBThen the angel added, “I will greatly multiply your offspring so that they will be too numerous to count.”
KJVAnd the angel of the Lord said unto her, I will multiply thy seed exceedingly, that it shall not be numbered for multitude.

KJVAnd he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man’s hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.

BSBSo Hagar gave this name to the LORD who had spoken to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “Here I have seen the One who sees me!”
KJVAnd she called the name of the Lord that spake unto her, Thou God seest me: for she said, Have I also here looked after him that seeth me?
