1바로가 가사를 치기 전에 블레셋 사람에 대하여 선지자 예레미야에게 임한 여호와의 말씀이라

2여호와께서 이같이 말씀하시되 보라 물이 북방에서 일어나 창일하는 시내를 이루어 그 땅과 그 중에 있는 모든 것과 그 성읍과 거기 거하는 자들을 엄몰시키리니 사람들이 부르짖으며 그 땅 모든 거민이 애곡할 것이라
BSBThis is what the LORD says: “See how the waters are rising from the north and becoming an overflowing torrent. They will overflow the land and its fullness, the cities and their inhabitants. The people will cry out, and all who dwell in the land will wail
KJVThus saith the Lord; Behold, waters rise up out of the north, and shall be an overflowing flood, and shall overflow the land, and all that is therein; the city, and them that dwell therein: then the men shall cry, and all the inhabitants of the land shall howl.
영어 직역주가 이같이 말하노라 보라 물들이 북쪽에서 솟아올라 넘치는 홍수가 되어 그 땅과 그 안의 모든 것 곧 그 성읍과 그곳에 거하는 자들을 넘칠지니 그때에 사람들이 부르짖고 그 땅의 모든 주민들이 울부짖으리라.
3힘센 것의 굽치는 소리와 달리는 병거 바퀴의 울리는 소리에 아비의 손이 풀려서 그 자녀를 돌아보지 못하리니
BSBat the sound of the galloping hooves of stallions, the rumbling of chariots, and the clatter of their wheels. The fathers will not turn back for their sons; their hands will hang limp.
KJVAt the noise of the stamping of the hoofs of his strong horses, at the rushing of his chariots, and at the rumbling of his wheels, the fathers shall not look back to their children for feebleness of hands;
영어 직역그의 강한 말들의 발굽을 구르는 소리에, 그의 병거들의 돌진에, 그리고 그의 바퀴들의 쩌렁거림에 아비들이 손의 약함으로 말미암아 그들의 자식들을 돌아보지 아니하리니
4이는 블레셋 사람을 진멸하시며 두로와 시돈에 남아 있는 바 도와 줄 자를 다 끊어 버리시는 날이 이름이라 여호와께서 갑돌 섬에 남아 있는 블레셋 사람을 멸하시리라
BSBFor the day has come to destroy all the Philistines, to cut off from Tyre and Sidon every remaining ally. Indeed, the LORD is about to destroy the Philistines, the remnant from the coasts of Caphtor.
KJVBecause of the day that cometh to spoil all the Philistines, and to cut off from Tyrus and Zidon every helper that remaineth: for the Lord will spoil the Philistines, the remnant of the country of Caphtor.

5가사가 삭발되었고 아스글론과 그들에게 남아 있는 평지가 멸망되었나니 네가 네 몸 베기를 어느 때까지 하겠느냐
BSBThe people of Gaza will shave their heads in mourning; Ashkelon will be silenced. O remnant of their valley, how long will you gash yourself?
KJVBaldness is come upon Gaza; Ashkelon is cut off with the remnant of their valley: how long wilt thou cut thyself?
영어 직역대머리가 가자에 이르렀고 아스글론이 그들의 계곡의 남은 자들과 함께 끊겼도다 너는 어느 때까지 네 몸을 상하게 하겠는가.
6여호와의 칼이여 네가 언제까지 쉬지 않겠느냐 네 집에 들어가서 가만히 쉴지어다
BSB‘Alas, O sword of the LORD, how long until you rest? Return to your sheath; cease and be still!’
KJVO thou sword of the Lord, how long will it be ere thou be quiet? put up thyself into thy scabbard, rest, and be still.
영어 직역오 주의 칼이여 어느 때까지 고요하지 아니하겠는가 네 칼집에 들어가고 쉬며 잠잠할지어다.
7여호와께서 이를 명하셨은즉 어떻게 쉬겠느냐 아스글론과 해변을 치려 하여 그가 명정하셨느니라
BSBHow can it rest when the LORD has commanded it? He has appointed it against Ashkelon and the shore of its coastland.”
KJVHow can it be quiet, seeing the Lord hath given it a charge against Ashkelon, and against the sea shore? there hath he appointed it.
