1사사들의 치리하던 때에 그 땅에 흉년이 드니라 유다 베들레헴에 한 사람이 그 아내와 두 아들을 데리고 모압 지방에 가서 우거하였는데

BSBWhen Naomi heard in Moab that the LORD had attended to His people by providing them with food, she and her daughters-in-law prepared to leave the land of Moab.
KJVThen she arose with her daughters in law, that she might return from the country of Moab: for she had heard in the country of Moab how that the Lord had visited his people in giving them bread.

KJVWould ye tarry for them till they were grown? would ye stay for them from having husbands? nay, my daughters; for it grieveth me much for your sakes that the hand of the Lord is gone out against me.

BSBBut Ruth replied: “Do not urge me to leave you or to turn from following you. For wherever you go, I will go, and wherever you live, I will live; your people will be my people, and your God will be my God.
KJVAnd Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:

BSBWhere you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. May the LORD punish me, and ever so severely, if anything but death separates you and me.”
KJVWhere thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the Lord do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me.

BSBWhen Naomi saw that Ruth was determined to go with her, she stopped trying to persuade her.
KJVWhen she saw that she was stedfastly minded to go with her, then she left speaking unto her.

BSBSo Naomi and Ruth traveled until they came to Bethlehem. When they entered Bethlehem, the whole city was stirred because of them, and the women of the city exclaimed, “Can this be Naomi?”
KJVSo they two went until they came to Beth–lehem. And it came to pass, when they were come to Beth–lehem, that all the city was moved about them, and they said, Is this Naomi?

BSB“Do not call me Naomi,” she replied. “Call me Mara, because the Almighty has dealt quite bitterly with me.
KJVAnd she said unto them, Call me not Naomi, call me Mara: for the Almighty hath dealt very bitterly with me.

BSBI went away full, but the LORD has brought me back empty. Why call me Naomi? After all, the LORD has testified against me, and the Almighty has afflicted me.”
KJVI went out full, and the Lord hath brought me home again empty: why then call ye me Naomi, seeing the Lord hath testified against me, and the Almighty hath afflicted me?
